York Co., VA – Man Killed in Route 17 Crash near Washington Square Dr
York Co., VA (January 31, 2024) – The Virginia State Police out of York County confirmed that 60-year-old Leroy F. Chatham Jr. of Yorktown, Virginia, lost his life as a result of a fatal collision that occurred during the evening hours on Monday, January 29.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., authorities were notified that they were needed at the scene of a crash on Route 17. Preliminary investigations show that a Ford Expedition crashed into a bicyclist near the intersection of Washington Square Drive. The bicyclist, identified as Chatham, was rushed to Riverside Regional Medical Center for emergency treatment. Authorities confirmed that he passed away from the injuries he suffered. At this time, the police are investigating.
