Stuarts Draft, VA – Three Killed in Train Crash on Wayne Ave

Stuarts Draft, VA (August 14, 2024) – Three people have lost their lives as a result of a major train crash involving a van that occurred on Monday in Stuarts Draft. The crash was reported just after 8:00 p.m. on August 12.

According to local news sources, a 15-passenger van was traveling near Wayne Avenue while transporting four people from a solar panel work site in the Stuarts Draft area. As the vehicle proceeded over the train tracks, it was struck by a Norfolk Southern train, which was heading toward the Waynesboro area. The impact of the crash caused the van to roll over and eject three people.

One female passenger and two male passengers were fatally injured in the accident. The victims, identified as 38-year-old Wilda Comete, 44-year-old Jacner Comete, and 48-year-old Abner Comete, were all pronounced deceased at the scene. The fourth victim, identified as Ronide Louis, was transported to UVA Health with serious injuries. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
