West Springfield, VA – Four Hospitalized After House Fire on Jansen Ct

West Springfield, VA (January 28, 2026) – A serious house fire in Fairfax County sent four people to the hospital on Wednesday morning, January 28, including two firefighters and two home occupants. The residential fire broke out just after 7:00 a.m. in the 7900 block of Jansen Court in West Springfield.

Emergency crews responded quickly after receiving reports of flames and heavy smoke coming from the home. Firefighters entered the residence and worked to bring the blaze under control.

Officials confirmed that two occupants suffered injuries during the incident. One victim sustained life-threatening injuries and required emergency hospital care. Another occupant suffered injuries that did not appear life-threatening.

Two firefighters also suffered injuries while battling the fire. Authorities transported both responders to the hospital for treatment. Officials said their injuries were not life-threatening, but doctors wanted to evaluate them further.

During the response, crews rescued an additional occupant from inside the home. Two dogs were also safely removed.  Firefighters extinguished the blaze later in the morning. Investigators remained on site to examine the damaged home and begin determining what caused the fire.

Officials have not released further details about how the fire started or whether the home sustained extensive structural damage.

Our thoughts remain with the injured victims and responders as they continue receiving care and working toward recovery.

Crucial Documents Victims Need After a Residential Fire in Fairfax County Four Hospitalized After House Fire on Jansen Ct

After a residential fire in Fairfax County or throughout Virginia, victims should gather key documents such as medical records, fire department reports, insurance policy information, and proof of property losses. These records help explain what happened, support injury treatment, and make it easier to handle insurance claims or housing needs. Organizing paperwork early can reduce confusion during recovery.

Medical documentation plays an important role when fire victims suffer burns, smoke inhalation, or other injuries. Hospital discharge papers, follow-up treatment notes, and billing statements can show the extent of medical care required. Continued records can also help track long-term recovery.

Fire-related insurance claims often require detailed paperwork. Victims may need copies of homeowner or renter insurance policies, photographs of damaged belongings, and receipts for major items. Keeping a written inventory of losses can also support the claims process.

Reports from responding agencies may provide an official summary of the incident. Fire investigation findings, incident numbers, and safety inspections can become important when determining how the blaze started. These documents may also help answer questions about liability or next steps.

A Fairfax personal injury lawyer can review these documents, explain what legal options may be available, and discuss what types of compensation could apply depending on medical costs and property losses. Legal guidance can help victims understand possible next steps without assuming any outcome.
