Chesterfield Co., VA – Fatal Bicycle Crash Reported on Lucks Ln
Chesterfield Co., VA (November 8, 2023) – An 80-year-old man died as a result of a bicycle accident that took place in Chesterfield County. The crash was reported at around 4:20 p.m. on November 6.
According to reports provided by the Chesterfield County Police Department, 80-year-old Stanley Sweeney was riding a bicycle in the 12,900 block of Lucks Lane during the early evening hours.
At the same time, a 2015 Hyundai Sonata was traveling westbound on the roadway.
For unknown reasons, the Hyundai struck the bicyclist, causing severe injuries.
Sweeney was rushed to an area hospital for emergency medical treatment. Authorities confirmed that he passed away from his injuries after arriving.
The Hyundai driver, identified as 55-year-old Mahmoud Khattab, was issued a summons for reckless driving. He was not injured in the crash.
The Chesterfield County Police Department is investigating the incident.
