Woodstock, VA - Santiago Rivera Loses Life in Pedestrian Crash on Old Valley Pike near VA-672
Woodstock, VA (June 7, 2023) – The Virginia State Police confirmed that 74-year-old Santiago Rivera lost his life as a result of a pedestrian crash that took place on Tuesday, June 6.
At around 10:25 a.m., the police responded to the scene of a crash on Old Valley Pike, US Route 11.
Reports from authorities indicate that 70-year-old Deborah McCormick was driving a Hyundai on the roadway. As her vehicle proceeded northbound, she struck a pedestrian from behind, who was walking with a bicycle near Virginia Route 672.
The pedestrian, identified as Rivera, was severely hurt. He was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of his injuries.
McCormick was not injured as a result of the crash. However, she was charged with reckless driving.
At this time, the crash is being investigated.
