Tyler Melton
Tyler grew up in southwest Virginia, with a lifelong interest in pursuing the legal field to help people live better lives and overcome the legal challenges that they face. In this aim, Tyler attended the University of Virginia from 2015 to 2019, obtained degrees in both history and government. While at the University, Tyler remained passionate about helping people, pursuing volunteer opportunities and remaining focused on his goal of practicing the law. Thus, after graduating from UVA, Tyler went straight into law school, at Appalachian School of Law, where he attended from August 2019 to May 2022. Additionally, Tyler participated in his school’s Law Journal, rising to the rank of Executive Editor, and having his own note published by his final year of law school.
During Tyler’s time in law school, he also served in various positions, strengthening his knowledge of the legal field. Following his first year of law school, Tyler interned in his hometown Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office, gaining greater understanding of the legal system through assisting on a variety of criminal cases. Then, following his second year and continuing through his final year of law school, Tyler served as a paralegal for a law firm near his school, assisting the attorneys in his firm represents parties in criminal and traffic offenses, while gaining valuable hands-on training in numerous fields of law.
After graduating law school in 2022, Tyler relocated to northern Virginia and after getting sworn in by the Virginia bar in early 2023, Tyler served for several years as associate attorney at a family law firm, assisting clients in working through their divorce, custody, and traffic proceedings. Tyler has a deep love and interest in practicing the law, and he utilizes that deep passion as well as his knowledge of the law, to help ensure that each of his client’s gets the best possible outcome in their case.
Outside of work, Tyler enjoys exploring the local DMV area and being in the outdoors.
