Alleghany Co, VA – 86-Year-Old Edmond Floyd Killed in Crash on I-64
Alleghany Co., VA (January 21, 2025) – A motor vehicle accident claimed the life of 86-year-old Edmond Thomas Floyd early Tuesday morning, January 21. The Virginia State Police responded to the scene of the two-vehicle collision, which occurred at approximately 12:53 a.m. on Interstate 64, about two miles west of Dabney Drive in Alleghany County.
According to initial investigations, Mr. Floyd was driving a 2025 Volkswagen Jetta westbound on Interstate 64 when his vehicle collided with a Kenworth tractor-trailer. The impact caused fatal injuries to Mr. Floyd, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, whose name has not been disclosed, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Reports indicate he has since been released.
