Bowie, MD (October 22, 2025) – A dump truck and a passenger car collided early Wednesday morning, October 22, on Robert Crain Highway in Bowie, injuring two people.
Maryland State Police reported the crash around 5:30 a.m. near Sylvan Drive and Annapolis Road. Investigators said a dump truck hit a Toyota Camry that slowed for traffic on southbound MD 3. The force of the impact caused the dump truck to veer off the roadway and strike a nearby light pole.
Emergency crews arrived quickly and found significant damage to both vehicles. Paramedics transported the driver of the dump truck to a local shock trauma center and the driver of the Toyota to a nearby hospital. Doctors have not yet confirmed the extent of their injuries.
Authorities closed all southbound lanes of MD 3 during the investigation and cleanup. Troopers examined skid marks, debris, and vehicle positions to determine what led up to the crash. Tow trucks later removed both damaged vehicles, and traffic resumed after several hours.
The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
Our thoughts are with both injured drivers, and we wish them a full and steady recovery.
