Frederick, MD (October 29, 2025) – A 93-year-old man tragically lost his life on Wednesday morning, October 29, following a three-vehicle collision on southbound U.S. Route 15 near Hansonville Road, just north of Frederick.
The Maryland State Police dispatched troopers to the scene shortly after 8:00 a.m. after receiving reports of a serious crash. The preliminary investigation indicates that the elderly man was attempting to cross Route 15 when a Toyota Camry struck his vehicle. The impact forced the man’s car off the roadway and into a telephone pole.
Emergency medical personnel arrived within minutes, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released his name pending family notification.
Paramedics treated the Toyota driver for injuries and took them to a nearby hospital, while the third driver hit by debris, avoided injury. Investigators temporarily closed all lanes as they examined the crash site and cleared the damaged vehicles.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team continues to investigate the cause of the deadly collision.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the man who lost his life in this tragic accident.
Fatal Car Accidents in Maryland
Deadly car crashes like the one on U.S. Route 15 highlight the dangers faced by drivers on Maryland’s highways. Elderly drivers, in particular, may face greater challenges in judging traffic speeds and reacting to fast-moving vehicles on major roadways.
According to the Maryland Department of Transportation, hundreds of people die each year in auto accidents across the state, often caused by speeding, distracted driving, or failure to yield.
Victims’ families are often left grappling with grief, financial stress, and the sudden loss of companionship. In situations like this, pursuing a wrongful death claim can help ease some of that burden by providing financial recovery for:
- Funeral and burial expenses
- Medical bills incurred before death
- Loss of financial support or future income
- Pain and suffering of surviving family members
Handling a wrongful death case becomes complex, especially when multiple vehicles are involved. Working with a skilled wrongful death lawyer can help families understand their rights, gather evidence, and hold negligent drivers accountable. Legal support also helps victims file claims within the state’s statute of limitations for personal injury and wrongful death cases.
