Truck Turn Violations and Pedestrian Safety in Rockingham County, VA
Large commercial trucks create wide blind spots when they swing into a turn lane, and drivers usually have only seconds to check that lane before completing the maneuver.
Virginia follows a strict contributory negligence rule, which means a family can be barred from recovering anything if the person who died is found to bear even a small share of fault. This makes it especially important to establish, through witness accounts or any available dash-cam or business surveillance footage, exactly how the accident occurred.
A death caused by a commercial vehicle can leave surviving family members facing funeral costs, lost financial support, and the sudden loss of a loved one’s companionship. However, Virginia’s wrongful death statute allows a personal representative to pursue these losses on the family’s behalf within two years of the crash. A wrongful death attorney can help identify whether the trucking company’s own policies on turn-lane checks or driver training played any role in what happened.
