Frederick County, MD – 1 Injured in Crash Involving Car and Tractor-Trailer on I-70

Frederick County, MD (October 8, 2025) – Maryland State Police responded to a serious collision early Wednesday morning, October 8, on Interstate 70 in the New Market area. The crash involved a Ford Escape and a tractor-trailer, leaving one person injured and causing temporary lane closures.

Troopers said the crash occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m. near Exit 62 by Green Valley Road. Emergency crews arrived quickly and found the driver of the Ford Escape injured inside the vehicle. Paramedics transported the victim to a shock trauma center for emergency treatment. The extent of the driver’s injuries remains unclear.

Two lanes on I-70 West were closed while investigators worked the scene and removed debris. Both vehicles sustained significant damage. Police are continuing to determine what caused the collision, including whether fatigue, speeding, or distracted driving played a role.

Traffic resumed later in the morning after officials cleared the area.

Authorities continue to review evidence and witness statements to determine the factors that led to this crash.

Our thoughts are with the injured driver, and we hope for a full recovery.

Truck Accidents in Maryland18 Hospitalized After Passenger Transport Vehicle Crashes Into Dock at Dulles International Airport

Crashes involving commercial trucks and passenger vehicles, like this recent one, often result in devastating injuries due to the size and weight of tractor-trailers. A fully loaded semi-truck can weigh up to 80,000 pounds, making even a low-speed collision extremely dangerous.

Truck drivers and motorists must remain alert and follow safety regulations to prevent serious wrecks. Unfortunately, truck accidents in Maryland often occur because of several common factors:

  • Driver fatigue: Long hours on the road can cause drowsiness and slower reaction times.
  • Speeding or unsafe lane changes: Large trucks require more space and time to stop or maneuver.
  • Distracted driving: Using cell phones or onboard devices diverts attention from the road.
  • Improper loading: Uneven or unsecured cargo can cause trailers to tip or jackknife.
  • Mechanical failure: Faulty brakes, tires, or steering systems can lead to loss of control.

Victims injured in truck accidents in Maryland may face long recoveries, mounting medical bills, and emotional distress. Serious injuries can include broken bones, head trauma, spinal injuries, or internal bleeding. Many victims require physical therapy, surgery, and months of rehabilitation.

In these situations, working with a skilled truck accident attorney is crucial. An experienced lawyer can investigate the crash, gather evidence such as driver logs and inspection records, and identify all liable parties—including the trucking company, driver, or maintenance contractor. Victims can pursue compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and long-term care needs.
