What Families of Pedestrians Killed in Chesterfield, VA Can DoPedestrian Killed by Ford F-250 on Hull Street Rd in Chesterfield, VA

When a pedestrian is killed by a motor vehicle in Chesterfield, VA the surviving family may have the right to file a wrongful death claim against the at-fault driver.

Virginia law allows certain family members (spouses, children, and parents) to seek compensation for funeral expenses, lost financial support, and the loss of care and companionship the deceased would have provided.

Pedestrians struck by full-size pickup trucks face some of the most severe injury profiles of any road user. The elevated front-end height means the point of impact is often the torso or head rather than the legs, dramatically increasing the likelihood of fatal trauma.

For families left behind, the financial and emotional toll of a sudden loss can be compounding, especially when the deceased was a provider or caregiver.

A wrongful death attorney can help surviving family members understand whether a wrongful death claim is viable and what the process involves. This includes reviewing the police report, preserving any available surveillance or dashcam footage and identifying all applicable insurance coverage. Virginia’s wrongful death statute has specific filing deadlines, so acting promptly is important.
