Fairfax Co, VA – Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Little River Tpk

Fairfax County, VA (January 7, 2026) – A pedestrian lost his life Wednesday morning, January 7, after a hit-and-run crash in Fairfax County. The incident occurred around 7:02 a.m. along Little River Turnpike at Shelley Lane, an area near Northern Virginia Community College and Pleasant Valley Memorial Park.

Police said a 34-year-old man was crossing Little River Turnpike when a vehicle struck him. The driver did not stop and fled the scene immediately after the crash. Responding emergency units arrived and found the pedestrian seriously injured.

Emergency personnel provided aid at the scene before transporting the man to a nearby hospital. Officials said he suffered life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital. Authorities identified the victim as Christopher Young.

Police reported that the vehicle involved was a dark-colored sedan. Investigators have not released additional details about the driver or the direction the car traveled after leaving the scene. No arrests have been announced.

As part of the investigation, authorities closed the eastbound lanes of Little River Turnpike at Wakefield Chapel Road for several hours. The closure allowed investigators to examine the scene and collect evidence. Police said all lanes reopened to traffic by approximately 10:30 a.m.

Fairfax County Police continue working to identify the driver involved. The Investigation remains active.
